Bay to Breakers is coming up this weekend in San Francisco and I’m pretty bummed because I can’t go again this year 🙁 I was looking thru old pictures and reminiscing about past B2Bs!
For those that are unfamiliar with the event, it’s a combination of a 12K race and “Second Halloween”. The runners start off the race that begins near the Embarcadero (Bay) and ends down at Ocean Beach (waves = “breakers”). But once the runners go, everyone else who wants to party just leisurely strolls and parties behind the runners. Oh yeah, and everyone dresses up in crazy costumes for it!
Here are my friends and I at Bay to Breakers in 2011 – our theme was Hella Oaksterdam!
We knew someone who had an apartment in Alamo Square so we stopped for a toke on top of her roof and watched the parade of people below for a little while. I worked on that shirt for two hours the night before!
It reminds me of being at Spring Weekend at my university. You walk around partying and talking to everyone you meet – and you meet the craziest people!
I just remembered that some random dude walked up to me and gave me a HUGE bag of weed and then walked away without saying a word. These costumes definitely paid off that year!
Our theme was Party Animals in 2012! That’s me in the Zebra costume.
In my natural habitat!
Here’s a long shot of the crowd so you can get some idea on how insane it really is – an average of 70,000 – 80,000 people participate!
Definitely going to miss partying with these animals this year! Hope everyone that gets to go has a great time!
